Are autistic people held to a different standard as compared to non-autistic people when it comes to interacting with others (of any neurotype)?

The simple answer is yes. There is an expectation is autistics will exert some form of control over their responses, altering their behaviour to match that of those around them. I've observed people being kept to one side, despite their obvious wish to be included or contribute. People hidden in other rooms in houses I've visited. Managers and members of my family have taken me aside and told me to moderate or "develop" the way I present myself.

Why? Different question.
